Pfoti – always on the move in a relaxed posture

January, 15 degrees below zero…. I see a cat sitting in the middle of the road, in the middle of my lane, and brake, drive very slowly towards it until I’m within 20cm, I can’t see it anymore, covered by the car…It doesn’t move a millimeter. I would have driven right over her if I hadn’t been paying attention…. Hazard lights on, I get out, she’s practically sitting there under the bumper, looking at me sadly. I’ll never forget that look, I still get a lump in my throat today when I think about it… I pick her up carefully, see that one front paw is missing… Oh God, quickly into the warm car. Immediately to the vet, it’s around 11 am…She doesn’t move, just looks at me…she has a big belly, I think she’s pregnant, at the vet as a precautionary vitamin injection, and some food, she eats like a vacuum cleaner, completely starved….long story short, she wasn’t pregnant, is now spayed, walks but doesn’t climb much with her missing front paw, has a protective posture because of the missing paw, so that she looks like she has a big belly in this humped posture. Today she is EXTREMELY affectionate, EXTREMELY cuddly, and very happy. She had probably given up back then, or was apathetic due to cold and hunger……She is the first to run up to me when there is food, and doesn’t leave my side when I clean the toilets. Top Mojo, top integrated, top grateful, TOP cat…God thank you for not overlooking them….
