WHAT COMPANIES RECEIVE

FTI – Feline Testing Initiative documents how cat products perform in genuine everyday use with a large and diverse group of rescued cats.
Depending on the product and the agreed objective, we provide:

• documented acceptance and preference observations
• practical performance and usability testing
• durability observations under intensive multi-cat use
• feedback on handling, cleaning and everyday practicality
• photographs, video documentation and professional on-camera presentation
• honest findings, including weaknesses and opportunities for improvement

CASE STUDY: WATER PREFERENCE

96 Cats Choose Their Drinking Water

96 cats were free to choose between regular and reverse-osmosis water in their familiar environment.

Over 22 hours, 132 drinking events were documented: 115 at the reverse-osmosis water and 17 at the regular water—87% for RO water. The complete process and result are presented in a one-minute time-lapse video.

The cats were neither handled nor directed. They chose freely.

LONG-TERM DURABILITY

Seven Years of Intensive Multi-Cat Use

Between 2018 and 2021, we invested approximately €15,000 in an extensive RHR Quality cat-tree installation.

For the past three years, it has been used daily by never fewer than 100 cats. Most components remain stable and fully functional. Areas of extreme wear—as well as individual design weaknesses—are equally visible and documented.

This provides rare long-term evidence of how cat furniture performs under genuine, intensive multi-cat conditions. Selected components were also exposed outdoors for three years.

DISCUSS A DURABILITY TEST

Außengelände

100+ cats—and an outdoor stress test: three years exposed to storms, rain, −20 °C frost, +45 °C heat and direct sunlight. Indoors, almost all components remain stable and fully functional after five to seven years.

PRACTICAL PERFORMANCE

Visible Results Under Real-Life Conditions
With more than 100 cats, hair-removal products face an exceptional level of everyday use.
We can document pickup performance, the number of passes required, handling, tool cleaning and visible results across different fabrics and surfaces. Photographs, video and professional on-camera presentation can be included.

SECURE OUTDOOR TESTING

Roaming Safely—Claws Ready, Full Speed Ahead

Patio decking, outdoor furniture—including products not specifically designed for cats—and related equipment can be cat-tested within our secure one-hectare outdoor area.

Products are used voluntarily under genuine everyday conditions without exposing the cats to uncontrolled or dangerous free roaming.

CCTV cameras can be installed upon request to provide long-term and time-lapse documentation of product use, wear and weather exposure—including sun, heat, rain, frost and snow.

ANIMAL WELFARE, INDEPENDENCE AND USE OF RESULTS

FTI – Feline Testing Initiative by CatSalvaCura provides observational, real-life product evaluations within a private cat sanctuary. The cats are permanent residents. They are not kept, bred, assigned or trained for testing.

We do not conduct animal experiments or scientific, clinical, veterinary, pharmaceutical, toxicological, invasive or regulatory testing. We do not accept products or procedures that could reasonably expose a cat to pain, fear, deprivation, restraint, injury or avoidable stress.

Participation is always voluntary. Every cat remains free to approach, use, ignore or leave a product at any time. Normal access to food, drinking water, care, shelter and space is never withheld or restricted to influence behaviour. Any activity is stopped immediately if a safety or welfare concern arises.

Before a commissioned evaluation begins, the product provider must identify the exact product and disclose its intended use, materials or ingredients, warnings and relevant safety information.

All findings are limited to the exact product, model, composition and—where relevant—batch evaluated, as well as the documented setup and evaluation period. Results may not be transferred to subsequently modified, reformulated or differently manufactured products.

Our findings are practical observations, not laboratory certification, regulatory approval or proof of general safety or efficacy. Payment, sponsorship or product supply does not guarantee a favourable result. Commercial relationships are disclosed.

Any external use of our name, FTI identity, seal, photographs, video footage, quotations or findings requires prior written authorisation. Commissioned projects and permitted uses are defined in a written agreement. The product provider remains responsible for product safety, legal compliance and all marketing claims.
